Just got lollipop 5.1 update for my verizon 1st gen motog (xt1028) yesterday. everything looks good and seemed to work fine and speedy. it's a very nice os for such an old phone.. I own a moto g xt1028 (verizon) but im still on android 4.4.4 kitkat. i constiently check for updates almost daily. if i don't recieve the android lollipop update within the next 14 days, i'm: rooting, unlocking the botloader, installing a custom recovery and putting cm12 on it.. So far, both the moto g 1 st gen and moto g 2 nd gen have been updates to the previous android 5.0 lollipop. verizon is the only known carrier to have the moto g in stock. happily for subscribers, the original moto g on verizon now has android 5.1 lollipop..
The verizon variant of the first-generation moto g smartphone (version xt1028) is now receiving the android 5.1 lollipop update, which bumps the device to software version 221.26.7.falcon_cdma.
